Meet Andrew Wright — Our August Sheepdog of the Month

Andrew Wright - Advanced Care Paramedic & Fire-Fighter

Andrew Wright has spent over 30 years running toward the moments most people run away from. It started when he joined the Canmore Fire Department as a paid responder, and it's carried him through three decades of emergency service. Today, he's an Advanced Care Paramedic with Alberta Health Services, working out of Canmore General Hospital, and a Career Casual Firefighter/Paramedic with Canmore Fire Rescue.

What's kept him in it this long isn't any single call. It's the team. Andy talks about the way people pull together under pressure, and the good outcomes that come from that, built by people who trust each other and know their roles. He's watched himself grow from a rookie helping wherever he could, to someone who now runs emergency events himself. And through it all, the gratitude from the community and the patients he's helped has never worn off.

That's really the whole idea behind Sheepdog: people who show up for each other, who protect their community without needing recognition for it. Andy's spent thirty years doing exactly that.

A fun fact about Andy: he's an avid bread baker, especially through the winter. He says its the kind of hobby where he's constantly tinkering with recipes to see what changes. Reminds us of brewing beer and continuous playing with our recipes so we understand the appeal.

For anyone who has been around Andy, you are immediately drawn to his positive energy and cheery outlook. When he's around the brewery, he can't help himself but to jump in and lend a helping hand, without even being asked. He's one classy guy and we thank-you for your service in the community.
